Choosing between an upscale apartment in the city and a cottage outside it, megalopolis residents prefer the countryside real estate.
Owing a house has a lot of advantages, especially for a big family of several generations. But it is also necessary to consider some aspects while designing an interior of a country house.
Cottage interior project, even if it has many contrasts and issues, can be surprisingly balanced. A house always goes together with surrounding landscape. All the complex must be filled with the sense of inner confidence, but at the same time also moderation, closeness to the nature and openness for the outer world.
Country house
Modern country house does not look like a hut or a lonely forest guard shelter anymore. It might now be as comfortable as any apartment. While designing the interior of the house, it should be considered that the house has to be as functional as a submarine – with its own ventilation, air condition, water supply and electricity systems. That is why designing a project of a country house should involve professional architects and engineers.
Cottage design takes into account all the needs of its future inhabitants; allocates possible trouble zones and chooses the most optimal decision. As a rule, any country house has a housekeeping part and living rooms. Sometimes it is also reasonable to divide the rooms for the older and younger generations of the family. The common area might be in the living room with different rest zones – TV zone, reading zone, talking zone, etc. One of the possible ways offered by a famous interior design bureau – using a staircase hall as a zoning element. But as a living room is in most cases considered the most important room in a country house, it is better to entrust its design to professionals.
House interior
Standard house interior design provides all the ‘representative’ rooms to be situated on the ground floor. As a rule, they are: hall, living room, kitchen and dining room. Each room can have its own face and style without disturbing general harmony. Arches can be used as a common element between the rooms in this case. This approach does not involve using doors, which gives the space extra volume. If there is a need to separate one room from another, glass windows, screens, decorative panels or textile elements should be used instead of standard divisions. All of this is highly reasonable for an individual house.
Another word should be said about using stucco works in the elements of the ceiling, moldings, skirtings, etc. Today the designers are well aware of how to use these elements, which were considered a bad taste before. On the contrary, doorways, arches and fireplaces decorated this way and painted into neutral colors give the room some extra comfort without overloading the interior.
Interior cottage designing gives the architect some space for imagination. It is possible to put into the country house shelves with books and collections, a lot of photographs, children’s crafts, handmade, etc. – everything that can’t always be put in an apartment. It is possible to create an atmosphere reminding of travel experiences to other countries by adding some exotic elements, such as shells or ethnic souvenirs.
Surface finish
Textile materials are very important part of the modern interior design. Curtain and furniture upholsteries, sofa pillows of different shapes and colors, tablecloths, tapestries and carpets will help to highlight the key points and create an ideal image of a cozy house.
Another important thing of interior design is lightning. Lightning functions are different for different rooms; that is why its design should be done by professional architect. The designer in this case only chooses the lights according to the artistic concept.
